See What Is Happening in Our District
St Marks Hampton UMM Upper Room Ministry
President & Treasurers,
I want to remind you of an ongoing ministry led by one of our local fellowship in the name of York River District UMMen. St Marks UMMen, for a number of years have taken on the task of delivering copies of the Upper Room magazine to facilities within our district where patients, residents and inmates welcome their arrival. The Upper Room is a source of Love and Hope for those who are at a point in their lives where they need a Light in the storm.
Below is an excerpt from an email I received from Alan Keller, President of St Mark’s UMMen;
The St Marks UM Men are continuing the bi-monthly distribution of the Upper Room through a ministry which puts approximately 400 copies of the Upper Room every other month in three local hospitals, the Warwick Forest retirement home, and the regional correctional facility. We do it in the name of the York River District UMMen, and although St Mark's church and our UMMen contribute a large part of the annual cost, we rely on generous contributions from other fellowships to continue this wonderful ministry. We don't in any way want to prevent or preclude any of the other District UMMen chapters from undertaking an Upper Room devotional distribution if their chapter is so moved and led by the Spirit. If a chapter does undertake their own Upper Room distribution, we only ask that a point of contact be identified to St. Marks so that we can efficiently coordinate the distribution and prevent any duplication of devotionals at the same locations.
I will be glad to field any questions. Please contact me, Alan Keller at 850-8146 or . Contributions can be sent to St. Mark's UMM, 99 East Mercury Boulevard, Hampton, VA 23669, Attn: Kevin Gentry.
Gentlemen I encourage you and your fellowship to prayerfully consider giving generously to this spirit led ministry. If your funds are limited, please give what you can. God has called upon us to care for our brothers and sisters when and where we can and I know we will all step up and help financially support St. Mark’s in fulfilling their mission.
God Bless You All,
Jim Chaffin, President
