York River District United Methodist Men
                                                            Zion UMMen Heed the Call

In the spring and summer of this year parts of West Virginia were devastated by floods. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) sent out an urgent call for help.  One item they need is Cleaning Buckets (formerly called Flood Buckets).
Our VCUMMen President Andrew Kissell put out a call for men’s fellowships to step up and heed the call.  Zion UMMen in Seaford, Va. did just that through the excellent leadership of their Zion UMMen President George Stephenson.
Below is a letter from George and how they made it happen.

Zion United Methodist Men (Seaford Virginia) went to work on July 26, 2016.  Our District’s Men’s groups were informed of a great need for these buckets and Zion decided to go to work.
We presented the materials list to Grafton True Value (Yorktown, VA) and purchased all of the supplies thru the store. The costs per bucket was just under $46.00.  Zion UMM used funds raised primarily thru an annual golf tournament in May, a seafood dinner in September and some other fundraising throughout the year.
The project was fun and rewarding for all of the men at Zion.  It was also nice to be able to include men of all ages on this project, inside with air conditioning during a very hot July in Virginia.
